Canadian Charity Benefits from Rock Star Celebrity Status

Winnipeg MB February 11, 2008

Rock Icon, John Mellencamp performed live at the MTS Centre, but it wasn’t what happened on stage that strikes a real note with an estimated 70,000 Canadians.

Mellencamp born in 1951 with a mild version of Spina Bifida recently accepted an invitation from The Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus Association of Canada to lend a celebrity helping hand to their corporate solicitation in November of last year.

“His stage presence is gigantic” states Lastella, “but what is more profound is his humility and compassion for the struggle of others facing this number one physically disabling birth defect in Canada and the US today.”

John shared his thoughts with the group on feeling blessed to having been spared the many challenges that most with the birth defect face.

The Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus Association of Canada mission is to improve the quality of life for people with Spina Bifida and / or Hydrocephalus through research, education, advocacy and support. To learn more, make a contribution or enter the Mellencamp Art draw visit www.sbhac.ca
